One of the positive aspects of fostering is what it has done for our children. Yes, it has been very difficult for them at times, but we've seen them grow in compassion and sensitivity. Their world view has expanded and they've learned what it means to give of yourself even when it's very hard. We have learned that the things in life that matter take work and are often not easy, but so worth it. Fostering will change your family.
I keep fostering because I find it truly rewarding and am blessed everyday by the children in my home.
Each child that has entered my home has left a footprint. It might be funny, happy or even heartbreaking, but I am a better person because of my time spent working with these children through the moments.
As difficult as it has been to let go sometimes, when a parent steps up and does what they need to get their child back, it is rewarding to be part of that process.
That is kind of like having a child of your own. You cannot predict your child’s medical, physical, emotional, or mental health…leave it up to God and accept what you are given.
